+    * For operation in Japan, a label ("技適マーク") needs to be on the device. It's issued by the government, 無線機　技適証明. I do not see one for the UV-K5 or K6. [[https://www.freeradio.jp/post-1954/|This]] article also finds the unmodified device to be not compliant.
